India Bans Dangerous Opioid Combo: The Government of India has taken a major step to ban and ban the export and construction of dangerous opioid drugs tapentadol and carisoprodol. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has banned the production of drugs related to controversial tapentadol and carisoprodol with immediate effect. The apex authority has banned the production and exports of all combinations of pain reliever tapentadol and carisoprodol.

The BBC report stated that there is an opioid crisis arising there due to dangerous drugs such as Tapentadol and Carisoprodol exported to West African countries. There is a risk of these painkillers being used for intoxication in the form of drugs.
The BBC News investigation revealed the widespread misuse of these drugs in parts of West Africa. These drugs use high addictive youth. Countries such as Ghana, Nigeria and Kota de Ivar are associated with public health crisis. These drugs have been illegally exported by the Mumbai -based company.
In a letter, the Indian Medicine of India (DCGI) has asked the drug control authorities of states and union territories to withdraw permission to manufacture all the export NOC and all the combinations of both drugs.
Both Tapentadol and Carisoprodol have not been given approval of the production of these drugs in the country by the Central Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO). In addition, they are not part of the list of NDPS drugs in India.
The letter sent by DCGI on Friday said, “It is in relation to a recent BBC article, which states that there is a great possibility of misuse of a drug combining tapentadol and carisoprodol. This combination is from India It is being exported to West African countries. “
Given the possibility of its harmful effects on people, DCGI has requested to immediately withdraw all export NOC and manufacturing permission for tapentadol and carisoprodol.
